Today we remember the expulsion of Adam from Paradise. God expels Adam and Eve on one account as punishment to desiring above all else to disobey God’s command given to Adam to not touch of the Tree of the knowledge and evil. On the other hand it was out of God’s great mercy that Adam and Eve would not remain in the garden and touch the tree of life and live forever in a sinful state. We live in a world of chaos and death because of Eve’s beguilement by the serpent in the garden. We continue to add to the alien spirt of thinking we are like God or can become like Him in disregard to His will for us. By forgiving each other we then add some sanity and healing to our community and this world. I as your priest have added to the sickness and chaos of our community and the entire world – for that I ask for your forgiveness and I ask that each of you forgive everyone in our community and everyone in your life of everything – no matter what so healing and wholeness can come back into the world.
