A parent’s salvation is dependent upon raising faithful Christians. The Farther and the Mother are obliged to provide instruction in moral or spiritual matters and in proper comportment in the world and the child owe parents piety and obedience.
St. John Chrysostom
‘The pedagogue’ of Christian Fatherhood is intended to have two layers of meaning, instruction both of the father and the son.
St. John Chrysostom
If you bring up your son excellently, then he will do the same for his son, and his son in turn for his own son; and it will be as if certain chain and series of better lives will go forward, having received a beginning and root from you and bringing you the fruits of your care for your descendants.
St. John Chrysostom
Raise your children in the fear of God, conforming their breath and heart beat the same as that of the Church. Punish and discipline when needed, never out of anger – but always out of love for Christ and His Church. Embrace and love your children, telling them you have confidence in them. Support your children in all that interests them that is unto their salvation.
